ACTION PLAN
'Zoo Logic' Exhibition
The Walker Art Gallery will also display 'FEELINTHECAT', a 70th anniversary Arts Council Collection commission. This immersive installation consists of a large dome, shaped to resemble Felix’s head. Inside the dome, two screens play a film which shows Mark Leckey transforming into Felix.
A Felix doll on a gramophone turntable was the first picture transmitted on TV in America in 1928. Visitors are invited to see Birkenhead-born Leckey’s Inflatable Felix, a huge, blow-up version of the cartoon cat. I find the sound of this exhibiton very interesting and I want to start observing large scape installations and work. I believe this will be helpful and influence some creative thoughts and ideas. -http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/walker/exhibitions/arts-council-collection/zoologic/ |
'Titanic and Liverpool: 'the untold story'
his compelling exhibition explores Liverpool's central role in the Titanic story. Titanic, then the largest ship in the world, left Southampton for New York on Wednesday 10 April 1912. On board were 922 passengers, later rising to 1316 after calls at Cherbourg and Queenstown. With her crew of 892 she carried 2,208 people in all. Although she was little more than half full, her 20 lifeboats could only carry about half of the people on board.
I have always been keen in educating myself about the titanic, especially as it is partly personal to me. I believe that educating yourself with history and any knowledge that is out there and is free is always great as you never know when it will come in useful one day. -http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/maritime/visit/floor-plan/titanic/ |
The Old dock experience
The Old Dock was discovered during excavations in 2001 after being buried since 1826. Developers Grosvenor preserved the dock and have made it publicly accessible as an important reminder of Liverpool's historic status.
The internationally-important Old Dock has been carefully preserved under Liverpool One. For the first time in centuries the bed of the Pool - the creek that gave Liverpool its name - can be seen. I am fascinated that bookings can be made to go and view the old dock and see how well it's been preserved after all these years. This could help influence my visuals designs with sets in future projects. -http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/maritime/visit/old_dock_tours.aspx |
Charlie bear launch party
Chester Zoo are hosting a 'Charlie Bear Party Launch' to launch the new Charlie Bear, Hari Hi Way, an elephant that sadly passed away at the zoo last year (2015).
Hari is extra special because all the profit from the sales of Hari will go towards our Never Forget Campaign. Last year, Chester Zoo sadly lost two young elephants, Bala and Hari Hi Way to a deadly virus called EEHV. With the support of the campaign the zoo are working hard to fund research to develop a vaccine for this virus, giving hope to young elephants both in zoos and in the wild. To celebrate the launch of our very special Hari bear Charlie and Will Morris, the creators of Charlie Bears, will be joining the zoo, giving the public the chance to meet them. -http://www.chesterzoo.org/whats-happening/whats-on/2016/11/charlie-bears-launch-party |

I love Disney and have always be keen on going to one of these events for three reasons, Disney, waching a film be brought to life live!, and ice skating! There are many reasons to why this could be influentional, such as, sets, transitions, special effects, pyrotechnics, costume and props.

escape room: warrington
You are a Paranormal Investigator who has been trapped in a VORTEX of LOST SOULS.
You have 60 minutes to piece together evidence, find a trace and solve the puzzles before your soul is forever TAKEN to the other side...Will you escape? Having recently experience an escape room in Liverpool, 'Tik Tok' I have found these really fun and entertaining filled with many challenges to share and experience with friends and family. The set up and structure of the game can help with future ideas. -http://www.lockdownescapeeg.co.uk/ |
lantern magic
The Lanterns at Chester Zoo is designed and performed by The Lantern Company, creators of spectacular illuminated events across the world, for audiences of all ages.
The lanterns have been on in the past at Chester Zoo, and as I couldn't attend in the previous years, I have made sure I attend this year to see these wonderful installations and see how they are put together and displayed in a space. http://www.chesterzoo.org/whats-happening/christmas/the-lanterns |
blackpool
Blackpool Tower is a tourist attraction in Blackpool, Lancashire, England, which was opened to the public on 14 May 1894. Inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris, it is 518 feet tall and is the 120th tallest freestanding tower in the world.
Since I was a child, I have always enjoyed trips to Blackpool, seeing the lights and attending the Illuminations switch on, but as many times as I have seen the tower I have actually never been in it. Experiencing the tower up close could influence structures and mos timportantly influence my upcoming module. For part of our next module, a trip to Blackpool, oppurtunties available include, riding on a tram, visiting the Winter Gardens, strolling across the pier or on the beach etc. |
Busted tour
I have always been a fan of Busted since I was 6 years old, and since they have been back on scene, first featuring the Mcfly, one of my favourite bands, becoming MCBUSTED and now having their own tour is very exciting.
I always enjoy seeing how they have set the stage for these types of concerts. |
|
Disney on ice
I have the same feelings for this event as I do about 'Frozen on Ice', but this event I believe will be much mor exciting as it will include mostly all the princesses, princes and characters. I will be able to see my favourite Disney princess, Rapunzel, the characters costume, make-up and hair, as well as the set, props and special effects etc.
|
the vamps tour
I have attend most, if not all of The Vamps Arena Tours in the UK, and saw them live for the first time they performed live as McFly's support act some years ago. Their sets are not over the top and are quite basic but in an interesting way. They have similar stage layouts as the likes of McFly and Busted but at one part of their show they have one of the members play a drumo solo where a lot of lighting and pyrotechnics is usually used, which is always exciting to see.
|
|
Ariana grande tour
Ariana Grande is one of my favourite artists and when I went to see her last year, as well as her voice, I found her sets amazing! Her personaily and character as well as her type of music and lyrics were all portrayed in props, stage, as well as the lighting, pyro-technics and effects.

FUnky sunflower events - Work Experience
I always loved entering the Funky Sunflower shop and seeing the different examples of table designs. I believe this is what made me interested in this type of design. I have known of Funky Sunflower Events for over four years now, since they dressed the venue for my 18th birthday, with my choice of chair and table covers and balloons etc. I would be thrilled if I was about to experience working and/or shadowing designers/planners at this company as part of Work Experience.
|
proptarts - work experience
The overall idea of proptarts and what they do is very interesting and exciting to look at. After looking in to more of their projects and what they do, I would be very interested in applying for Work Experience for the next year, gaining relevant experience and exploring different areas of what I could eventually go on to do after university.
|
wild rumpus - work experience
I have volunteered for Wild Rumpus twice in the past, for events such as 'The Lost Carnival' held in Crewe, and 'The Enchantment of Chester Zoo' in Chester. I really enjoyed and do enjoy volunteering for Wild Rumpus, not just for gaining experience to help me achieve my chosen career, but just because it's fun, I like working with others who have the same interests as me and I enjoy being and catching up with the Wild Rumpus team. Whilst volunterring for Wild Rumpus, there are always a wide range of things that can be done, from designing and helping create props, scenery and sets, as well as costume and make-up, to stewarding, selling tickets and lighting etc.
|
Punchdrunk - work experience
I have been aware of the name of this company from the past year, but I haven't entirely known exactly it is that they do. After looking in to recent projects they've done, I have become intrigued with thier work and the designs they create. I will definitely look in to how to volunteer and plan to help out in any future oppurtunities and/or events that Punchdrunk have.

'Sully'
I have been looking forward to this film since I first saw it's trailer a few months ago. I enjoy watching films like this that have suspence and are based on true stories as they are quite educational as well as entertaining. It has some very talented actors in it who I enjoy watching in other films, so I believe this film will be a very successful and a great watch!
|
|
'the belko experiment'
Similar to the reasons why I look forward to watching 'Sully', the suspense and the continuous questions you ask whilst watching these types of films are what makes them worth watching. This film is also slightly based on a real story, but has been put together and exaggerated in a very clever way. I look forward to eventually seeing this film, and hope it's just as good as the trailer.

'The last train to auschwitz'
, The "Telling the story of a group of Jewish women on their journey to the notorious, heart wrenching and devastating concentration camps in Auschwitz. This show is an emotional roller-coaster, in a place where dreams die and human rights are abolished. Witness the fight for survival against pains of hunger and the well-known, dishonourable gas chambers. Whilst some will lose the fight for freedom, others will survive and battle for justice for loved ones lost. A show which will capture the emotions of audiences with empathy felt throughout, there is a message to be heard and a lot of history to learned." http://www.gladstonetheatre.org.uk/index.php/19-drama/57-last-train-nv
|
After recently coming across this upcoming performance of 'The Last Train to Aucshwitz' I have been eager to purchase tickets and learn more about the events of Auschwitz and have an insight of Jewish Women's emotions and feelings whilst experiencing the horrific events that they did during this time. I am also interested in attending a local theatre, The Gladstone Theatre, where I live, that I have not yet been too, exploring the area and space, experiencing the atmosphere and how things are structured there.
|
grease
I have always been a fan of 'Grease', the characters, the songs, the costume, the scenery, the props etc. I love the look of the 1950s, a main reason for my love for this film. I wasn't expecting the line up for this performance to star the people who are in it, especially Tom Parker. Only knowing him as a member of boyband 'The Wanted', the Bolton star is set to play 'Danny Zuko', the main male character in the film. I do look forward in seeing how he performs within this role and whether or not it results in a successful entertaining performance.
|
Ghost
Not a production that I usually go and see, not that I'm not interested, but I have never got round to fortuntely being able to attend one of these shows. I am keen to see how this production and story is performed, how the lighting and sound is used and added and the types of costume, props and scenery involved. Also not having seen the classic film 'Ghost' starring Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore I want to see the live performance before viewing the film, to see if it's similar to the experience of reading a book before seeing the film.

'The Addam's family'
"Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, is all grown up and has a shocking secret that only Gomez knows. She’s fallen in love with a sweet, young man from a respectable family. With his cherished Morticia in the dark will Gomez manage to keep his daughter’s secret until the two families meet for a fateful dinner with hilarious consequences?"
After being fascinated by the film sets of 'The Addams Family', for example, all walls were actually pink in order to get the right shades to appear on the black and white film, it will be interesting to see how they will demonstrate the 'dark and quirky world' of this perculiar family. I was quite surprised to see that talented singer, youtuber, writer and actor, Carrie Hope Fletcher, will be starring as Wednesday Addams in this production, I would very much like to see perform. -http://www.birminghamhippodrome.com/calendar/the-addams-family/ |
This production will be held at the Birmingham Hippodrome for one week only. I have not yet visited this venue which is exciting to be able to visit an unkown venue, and watch the show for a reasonable price, as the Hippodrome have student friendly tickets with affordable prices. (Selected shows only)
|
'Dirty Dancing'
'Dirty Dancing' has always been a favourite film and a very memorabe film for me, and seeing it advertised and appear in theatres from time to time over the past years has made me more and more eager to go, get lost within the story, the music and the atmosphere, which I love most about live performances.
|
'matilda'
After hearing everyone's experiences and reading reviews about the production of 'Matilda', I've become almost desperate to go and see this show. Although unfortunetly it's not being performed at any other venue apart from in London is a shame really, but I am willing to travel and have a full filled experience of travelling and seeing this astonishing performance.

'Fresh Perspectives' exhibition
I am looking forward to viewing this exhibition, and viewing the works from GCSE and A-Level students from schools and colleges around Wirral, to maybe receive inspiration and creative ideas for my projects.
“The Fresh Perspectives exhibition in 2012 proved to be very popular with our visitors and we’re sure that this year’s exhibition will see a similar response. “From intricate textile work to striking monochrome photography, the students have demonstrated their talents across a really exciting and diverse range of mediums this year. They should feel very proud of their work.” |
This exhibition is being shown at the 'Lady Lever Art Gallery' in Wirral, which houses one of UK's greatest collections of fine and decorative art.

'Transformation' exhibition
-"Born in Surrey in 1926, Peter Farrer has lived in Liverpool for many years. He has been married twice and has a son. Peter’s fascination with women’s clothing started at an early age and he began cross-dressing from the age of 14."
I can honestly say that I have not been to an exhibiton like this one before. This is something new and very interesting, reflecting someone's hobby and passion, and appreciating the design, fabrics and decoration of the pieces, just like Farrer, has done, himself. -http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/whats-on/walker-art-gallerys-transformation-exhibition-10314246 |
'model images' exhibition
June Duncan (1924-2014) was a Liverpool-born dancer and model who, in the 1950s, became one of Britain’s top fashion models. June modelled clothes for all the major couture houses in London and Paris, and appeared regularly in the pages of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Vanity Fair.
This exhibition highlights some of her best-known images, part of a recently-acquired collection of more than 90 photographs dating from the 1930s to the 1950s. It also features beautiful 1950s evening dresses from National Museums Liverpool’s decorative arts collection." -http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/ladylever/exhibitions/model-image/ |
Going back to my appeal for 50's clothing, this is what interested me in this Exhibition, as well as the rest of the clothin that is involved which dates back to the 1930s. I believe this can influence my ideas and creative thinking in many ways, from designing props and scenery, to most importantly designing and creating costume relating to these years.
|
'putting on the glitz' exhibition
I have not yet visited 'Sudley House', a museum and art gallery located in Liverpool. After viewing the venue's website and having a look at what was on at the moment and in the future, I came across an exhibition 'Putting on the Glitz', an Exhibition about 1930's eveningwear. Similar to my interest of visiting the 'Model Image' Exhibition, this exhibition is is also to help influence my creative ideas.

ikon gallery
The Ikon Gallery is an internationally acclaimed Art Gallery situated in Central Birmingham. After my TPE class presented presentations we had earlier on in the year, one group presented the 'Ikon', sharing their thoughts and feeling about the approach of the place and they're overall thought about the place as a whole. This is the reason to why I became quite interested in visiting the gallery, to witness what exactly goes on here through the days, the amount of people visiting and viewing, as well as how the space is used, and how much of it is taken up by numerous things.

mad hatters tea room and bakery
"Mad Hatters Tearoom & Bakery is a multi-award winning establishment stunningly located at the historic and unique building of The Rectory, 49 Bridge Street Row, within the city walls of Chester in Cheshire. With subtle English Tearoom eccentricity and a touch of ‘Wonderland’, visit Mad Hatters to enjoy our breakfasts, elevenses, light lunches, and Mad Hatters’ specialty, Afternoon Tea.
As seen on ITV’s ‘Britains Best Bakery’ 2014 and accompanying book, as well as the channel 4 series ‘Heston’s Great British Food’ and Michel Roux Jr’s ‘Kitchen Impossible’. We also play host to private functions and corporate events with a full bespoke event planning service. Take a trip down the rabbit hole to discover more…." -http://madhatterstearooms.co.uk/ |
Viewing photographs of the interior, looking at the outside of the shop, the lighting of the room through the window, are just some of the reasons to why I am keen to visit this tea room. I am wanting to see if everything used within this business is theme related, as well as the costume.

cadbury world
As one of many, many people who love chocolate, I am really wanting to go and explore 'Cadbury World', for it's biggest Cadury store, it's cafes, and all of it's other experiences and adventures. There is also a Pantomime of Cinderella being performed after Christmas, where tickets need to be pre-bookes for this event in order to attend.

the birmingham botanical gardens
My love and hobby for photography and nature, I believe that visiting Brimingham's 'Botanical Gardens' is a wonderful idea. As well as the beautiful gardens, a tea room, gallery, summer house and a gift shop are also available to the Public. This allows visitors to have a better and fulfilled experience and a day out for all.

'tik tok unlock' escape rooms
Project Pandora
You have come far, you and your team of survivors. Now here you are, where it all started, where it could have ended. Where it will end – if only you are brave enough to put the pieces together of Doctor Mara Thanatos’ final work. You and your team must come face to face with the undead. With humanity on the verge of extinction, will you rise to the challenge? -Project Pandora has the option of having a zombie (actor, we hope! ) in the room. The Hatch Congratulations! You have just won once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Island. You will love it so much, you wouldn’t want to leave … or be able to. Even if you found your way back, the world that you left behind would never be the same. -https://www.ticktockunlock.com/location/manchester/ |
The idea that I like about this sort of event is the challenge and the competitiveness to beat a previous group's score of escaping the room in less time that they did. I also like the overall design concept of these events as it's similar to a performance acted out by yourselves. You have a room that has been specifically set up in order to 'play' the game and find the clues, but it has been carefully designed in a very clever way in order for the game to be succesfful.

nickelodeon land
Nickelodeon Land is a number one entertainment brand for kids, seeing a six acre area of pleasure beach transformed in to Nickelodeon Land. It is the perfect place to meet your favourite characters from 'Nickelodeon'. Exploring the park and its structure will give me an insight to how a 'theme park' and an open space is set out and whether this could be a possible area for me to go in to after my studies, or simply just for work experience.

madame tussauds
Although I have visited London's Madame Tusauddes within the past year, I believe it'll be interesting and a different experience visiting one up North, where there are different wax figures on show. I assume that the atmsophere will be a lot calmer, with a lot more room to view and have photographs with the wax figures, unlike London. Madame Tussauds, could also be a possible work experience oppurtunity.

the blackpool tower dungeon
I have also visited London Dungeons, which was a very memorable experience that I really did enjoy. I enjoyed learning about the history of events within London, as well as th trail around the dungeons as it was decorated with cob webs, dirt, old dark walls and scenery, as well as the old tattered clothing worn by all actors and members of staff. This is what makes me look forward to visiting Blackpool's Dungeons and educating myself a little more about the history of events, and seeing how the actors and staff are dressed within this event.

NEW ALEXANDER THEATRe - theatre tour
I didn't realise that these sorts of tour happened, until recently finding this whilst searching on the ATG tickets website. I found this very appealing to myself as this would be a fantastic opportunity, to view the back-stage of a great theatre, and the only theatre that I have visited in Birmingham. This would be very educational and help me with a lot throughout my course.

the clothes show
I have always wanted to go to the Clothes Show, ever since I heard about it from my GCSE Textiles tutor when I was 15 years old, but never being the right time or ending up missing the tickets, I have never been able to attend it. Luckily next year, the Clothes Show is coming to Liverpool, a city not too far away from where I live, which makes it a little bit easier to attend. What appeals to me, is the upcoming fashion, clothes shows and runways that will be available to watch, as well as the overall running of this event and how it all pans out.

Lock down escape game
"You are a Paranormal Investigator who has been trapped in a VORTEX of LOST SOULS.
You have 60 minutes to piece together evidence, find a trace and solve the puzzles before your soul is forever TAKEN to the other side...Will you escape?" Very similar to 'TIK TOK UNLOCK', the excitement and the thrill of this game is all down to the challenge, story and the structure of this game and it's design. -http://www.lockdownescapeeg.co.uk/ |
